Rising Wildcats Program

The Rising Wildcats program is designed for elementary-aged athletes (Kindergarten through 5th Grade) who are interested in learning the game of basketball in a fun, supportive, and team-focused environment. This program serves as the starting point for young athletes who want to develop their skills while becoming part of the Wildcats family.

Our Mission

The goal of the Rising Wildcats program is to introduce young players to the fundamentals of basketball while helping them grow as teammates, leaders, and individuals. We believe the lessons learned through sports—such as teamwork, discipline, effort, and respect—are just as important as the skills learned on the court.

What Players Will Learn

Athletes in the Rising Wildcats program will focus on building a strong foundation in basketball fundamentals, including:

• Dribbling and ball control

• Passing and teamwork

• Shooting fundamentals

• Defensive basics

• Footwork and movement

• Understanding the game

Players will also learn the importance of sportsmanship, communication, and working together as a team.

Program Environment

The Rising Wildcats program focuses on development and learning rather than intense competition. Practices and activities are designed to be engaging, instructional, and age-appropriate so every athlete has the opportunity to grow and build confidence.

Our coaches work to create a positive atmosphere where players feel encouraged to try new things, improve their abilities, and most importantly, have fun playing the game of basketball.

A Pathway to the Wildcats

The Rising Wildcats program also serves as the developmental pathway into the Graniteville Wildcats competitive travel teams. As athletes grow and advance in their skills, they will have opportunities to move into our competitive programs at the appropriate age level.
